Publication and other forms of distribution: May be restricted. It is necessary to conduct item-specific assessments of the rights associated with the specific pieces. Rights will vary depending on such factors as whether the work was published in the U.S., whether it was unpublished (created for purposes other than distribution), and whether it was created for a client as a "work for hire," taking into account guidelines on the duration of copyright (see: Copyright and Other Restrictions That Apply to Publication/Distribution of Images: Assessing the Risk of Using a P&P Image - How Long Copyrights Last).

While architects traditionally retain the intellectual property rights for their creative works, in some instances such rights may have been transferred to the client. Wright transferred the rights he held to the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. In general, the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation claims rights to his drawings. Contact information for the Foundation is:
