VideoSourceMD Extension Schema. VideoSourceMD contains administrative metadata that describe a video source item. VideoSourceMD: VideoSourceMD is used to describe the characteristics of a video source item. A video source item is defined as the analog or digital moving image item from which a video archival object is created . VideoSourceMD contains 19 elements: 1. calibration The type, location, and information about the calibration data 2. color Information describing color characteristics and specifications 3. compression The type and amount of digital compression e.g. Predictive - 10:1, RLE - 2:1 4. data_rate The data rate of the video source item in Mb/s e.g. 4.0, 8.25, 100.0, etc; 5. duration Duration of video source item in time i.e. HH:MM:SSSS format 6. emulsion The side of the spool faced by the emulsion i.e. Out or In 7. frames The number of frames and frame rate of video source item 8. gauge The gauge of video source item e.g. 16mm, 35mm, 70mm 9. language The predominant language used in the video source item e.g. silent, English, French 10. length Length of video source item in feet 11. material Information about the material/construction of the video source item e.g. VHS tape, CRO2 12. number_carriers The number of carriers containing the video source item 13. percent_shrinkage The estimated amount of shrinkage of the video source item 14. photographic_process The photographic process used to produce the video source item 15. resolution The horizontal and vertical dimensions of the frame in pixels; 16. print_method The method used to print the video source item; 17. sound_field The aural space of the video; 18. tint_tone The type of tint or coloration used in the video source item e.g sepia 19. video_format Information describing the format specifications of the video VideoSourceMDType: Complex Type for encapsulating within a single parent element the individual video source elements that describe an object or portion of an object. But note that the individual video source elements that comprise the VideoSourceMD schema can be used independently of a video source element and directly under a METS mdSec.dmWrap element. The individual elements that comprise a video source element are documented under their corresponding types. VideoSourceMDType has 2 attributes, ID (XML ID) VIDEOTYPE: the type of video source item e.g. motion picture, video etc.... calibrationType: Complex Type for recording the type, location and information about calibration data for an item or portion of an item. calibrationType has 2 attributes, ID: (XML ID) FIELDTYPE: qualifier of the type of calibration metadata contained in the element. - calibrationType: type of calibration data e.g. color bars, etc.... - calibrationLocation: IDREF to XML ID of pointer to location of calibration data e.g. Mptr, FLocat, etc... - calibrationNote: note about calibration colorType: Complex Type for recording the color process used in an item or portion of an item. colorType has 2 attributes, ID: (XML ID) FIELDTYPE: qualifier of the type of color metadata contained in the element. - colorProcess: the type of color process used in video source item e.g. B/W, Technicolor, Coloration - colorEncoding: type of digital color encoding e.g. RGB, gray tone - colorQuantization: number of bits of color or gray tone depth e.g. 8-bit, 16-bit, 32-bit, etc... compressionType: Complex Type for recording the amount of digital compression used in an item or portion of an item. compressionType has 2 attributes, ID: (XML ID) FIELDTYPE: qualifier of the type of color metadata contained in the element. - compressionMethod: method used to compress digital video e.g. Predictive, RunLengthEncoding, etc........ - compressionAmount: amount of compression applied e.g. 10:1, 2:1, etc........ data-_rateType: Complex Type for recording the data rate (e.g. 1.5 Mbps, 4Mbps, etc...) of an item or portion of an item. data_rateType has a single attribute, ID (XML ID). durationType: Complex Type for recording the duration of an item or portion of an item. durationType has a single attribute, ID (XML ID). emulsionType: Complex Type for recording the emulsion side in/out characteristic of an item or portion of an item. emulsionType has a single attribute, ID (XML ID). frameType: Complex Type for recording the number and rate of frames of an item or portion of an item. frameType has 2 attributes, ID: (XML ID).
