PROPOSED CHANGES TO LCRIs STEMMING FROM THE
PCC STANDING
COMMITTE
ON STANDARDS (SCS)
CROSS REFERENCE TASK GROUP
INTRODUCTION
The SCS appointed a Cross Reference Task Group, which submitted a report to the SCS
dated December 17, 1999. That report may be found at the following address:
//www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/xreftgfinal.html
The SCS response, dated October 1, 2000 may be found at:
//www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/xreftgscsresp.html
The Cross Reference Task Group Report recommends twelve changes relating to
LCRI's. Their disposition by the SCS is as follows:
- four are in conjunction with proposed rule changes and will not be acted upon until the rules
changes are accepted by the Joint Steering Committee and published;
- two were tabled by the SCS pending further investigations;
- one was rejected on the advice of the NACO Hebraica Funnel and the NACO Arabic Funnel,
which propose instead a different change (part of the present package);
- one was rejected but is being handled through a change in LC practice (part of the present
package);
- two were rejected;
- two were accepted and are part of the present package.
The background and rationale for the proposed changes may be found in the Task Group
Report cited above. The disposition of the proposals may be found in the SCS response
cited above.
